Uniqueness: The water salamander that can retain larval traits (neoteny) throughout its life, including external gills and the ability to regenerate limbs, organs, and even parts of the brain. They are the "Peter Pan" of the animal world.
Habitat: Found only in a few lakes and canals near Mexico City.
